I'd like to introduce you to the writing and reporting you can expect to find at one of the many new additions to my links known as THE DEBATING SOCIETY that I added this morning.
The website for Front Page Magazine.
This piece will scare the hell out of you at the same time that it thrills you with the courage and fortitude of a people.
"If a poet has any obligation toward society, it is to write well". [I]t is better to be a total failure in a democracy than a martyr, or la in a tyranny."
So spoke Joseph Brodsky, Nobel Prize Winner.
First off let our outraged writer tell you about poetry at San Francisco State University:
While Saddam loyalists and anti-American Arabs pouted in gloom and doom, back in the U.S. an anti-American poetry hit parade, entitled "My America," was held shortly after Saddams capture. It was the grand finale of San Francisco State Universitys fall semester.
Even as TV screens showed the captured Hitler of the Middle East in all his pathetic, unkempt glory, the anti-war show on campus continued. As a part of the Creative Writing Department curriculum, more than a hundred and fifty SFSU students were forced to attend this collective primary delusion presented as a poetry reading. Unfortunately, the weakness of the poets political intellect was matched by the weakness of their writing. From the lighted stage of the huge auditorium they groaned about American war atrocities....
In addition, environmental Green and anti-Globalization rhetoric was served behind the mask of poetry.
I tell you, my Cat could write better poetry than the dreck she shares with the reader.
The writer, risking life and limb, gives these assholes a piece of her mind:
"Dont try to shut me up! You guys are such conformists. No courage to be dissidents even for a change. Go and study accounting! Your poetry sucks!"
You go Girl! :-)
These miscreants were, she discovers, the Creative Writing Departments poetry teachers.
She writes about her experiences in writing classes at the college, and then tells us about the life of writers, and poets in the Soviet Union, and how moronic hate mongers, like her teachers, who hold nothing but contempt for America, the land that says they have the freedom to speak such garbage,
"dont understand how lucky they are to be failures in a democracy. They have failed in their main obligation to write well. In the Soviet Union they wouldnt receive even one week in prison."
To quote anything from her personal story, and that of Nobel Prize winning Poet Laureate of the United States Joseph Brodsky would take away fom the full impact of their words.

I agree with RAGING DAVE, of the blog 4 Rightwing Wackos, who had this to say after reading the piece:
