Thoughts on Ahmadinejad Letter
Having read the letter by Iranian President Ahmadinejad more than once I have to shake my head in disbelief that there are folks out there in the West who actually believe that we can work with him, and that he, and his ilk, are not a clear, and present, danger to all we hold dear.
I want to finally share my thoughts on the piece.
The 1st thing that must be addressed is the opening "Prayer to God".
He has used similar words before, including in a delusional appearance at the UN, and his notion about Gods purpose for mankind is quite disturbing.
As BJ wrote, in a comment to my 1st post on the speech, in addressing a Moonbat who left a comment:
President Ahmadinejad is deeply committed to the Islamic Messiah, al Mahdi. He claims that he is to personally prepare the world for the coming Mahdi.
"As mayor of Tehran, for example, Mr. Ahmadinejad appears to have in 2004 secretly instructed the city council to build a grand avenue to prepare for the Mahdi. A year later, as president, he allocated $17 million for a blue-tiled mosque closely associated with mahdaviat in Jamkaran, south of the capital. He has instigated the building of a direct Tehran-Jamkaran railroad line. He had a list of his proposed cabinet members dropped into a well adjacent to the Jamkaran mosque, it is said, to benefit from its purported divine connection."
In Ahmadinejad's vision in order to save the world, it must be in a state of chaos and subjugation. Ahmadinejad claims he was “directed by Allah to pave the way for the glorious appearance of the Mahdi”. This apocalyptic directive includes some very scary proclamations.
He spoke to the United Nations in September ’05. During that speech he claims to have been in an aura of light and felt a change in the atmosphere during which time no one present could blink their eyes. Iran’s PM is also said to have spoken in apocalyptic terms and seems to relish conflict with the West whom he calls the Great Satan. This is while Ahmadinejad proclaims he must prepare the world for the coming Mahdi by way of a world totally under Muslim control. He is working hard to bring about the world-wide horrors that must be in place for their al Mahdi to bring peace, aka Armageddon.
These ideas and goals, along with a violent hatred of Non-Muslims, America, and Israel, do not bode well for co-operation, and appeasement do they?
Dear Sir:
You call us "Noble" yet, in your world view, our culture, and its laws, are far from it, and undesirable for your nation, and the world.
Were we not faced with the activities of the US administration in this part of the world and the negative ramifications of those activities on the daily lives of our peoples, coupled with the many wars and calamities caused by the US administration as well as the tragic consequences of US interference in other countries?
And what negative ramifications would you be talking about?
The bringing of freedom to a brutalized country?
The modernizing, and re-building, of a non-existent, or backward, infrastructure?
The rule of law benefiting all in the country, including, Kurds, and especially Women?
As for calamities, sure a few bad apples in our military have done wrong, and are being punished for those wrongs, but the simple truth is....
The overwhelming majority of them are being committed by Religious fanatics from the Taliban, and their fellow terrorists, to Shia, and Sunni Religious fanatics, and their Mad Militias, on innocent civilians who want nothing more than to build a stable future for their country.
Were the American people not God-fearing, truth loving, and justice seeking, while the US administration actively conceals the truth and impedes any objective portrayal of current realities;
Excuse me, but people in America have more acccess to more info about the truth on the ground than all of the people of the Muslim Middle East could ever dream of so don't dare talk to us about "Objective Portrayals".
In America people even have the freedom to not know this stuff, and even to think of it what they will, and pick, and choose what to believe according to their politics if they so care to think that way.
And if we did not share a common responsibility to promote and protect freedom and human dignity and integrity;
Both greatly value and readily embrace the promotion of human ideals such as compassion, empathy, respect for the rights of human beings, securing justice and equity, and defending the innocent and the weak against oppressors and bullies.
We are all inclined towards the good, and towards extending a helping hand to one another, particularly to those in need.
We all deplore injustice, the trampling of peoples' rights and the intimidation and humiliation of human beings.
We all detest darkness, deceit, lies and distortion, and seek and admire salvation, enlightenment, sincerity and honesty.
Don't make me laugh!
There are so many injustices catalogued about life in Iran, and even, sadly, in Middle Eastern countries our Govt., due to the needs of diplomacy, calls allies ( Especially with regards to women. ) that it ain't even funny.
And, speaking of lies, and deceit.... what about your Nuke program Mr. Prez?
As you call us Noble again, and blather on about extending the hand of friendship I keep waiting for you to get to the point and quit trying to butter up the gullible by playing to that misguided segment of our country that thinks the War Against Terror is off course, and the wars in Afghanistan, and Iraq, were wrong, and that we should abandon our efforts, or work with Iran to "clean up the mess".
The simple truth is that there IS a Civil War in Iraq ( THERE, I've said it, so sue me, I don't give a fig! ), but it is not the fault of the United States that there is one, and the majority of the people of Iraq want no part in it.
The truth is that change, and modernity, will never come to the Middle East as long as you have Sunni, and Shia, religious fanatics at each others throats, as they have been since Mohammed had his "Revelations".
Hundreds of thousands of my Iranian compatriots are living amongst you in friendship and peace, and are contributing positively to your society.
I wonder if you would care to speculate on why so many of your countrymen, and women, have fled your "paradise" for the land of "The Great Satan", and many more would eagerly follow them if they could?
Your false tears over the fate of the poor Palestinians is disgusting.
Informed Americans are aggrieved by the ever-worsening pain, and misery, of the Iranian people. Persistent aggressions by the Taliban, their terrorist allies, and the Mad Militias, are making life more, and more difficult for the people of Iraq. In broad daylight, in front of cameras and before the eyes of the world, they are bombarding, kidnapping, and killing, innocent defenseless civilians, firing machine guns at people in the streets and alleys, and subjecting their families to endless grief.
No day goes by without a new crime.
Well, look at that! You CAN say something truthful on occasion! ;-D
Iraqi mothers, just like American, and British, mothers, love their children, and are painfully bereaved by the wounding and murder of their children. What mother wouldn't be?
For 5 years, the Taliban, their terrorist allies, and the Mad Militias, have hampered the efforts of forward thinking Afghanis, and Iraqis to build a better, modern future for themselves.
Many of these people have died because they want the future America is helping them build.
Their children have spent these years trying to go to new schools in the hope of improving their lives.
You now well that the US administration, and its military, and even civilians, have persistently provided money, material, knowledge, and expertise, to Afghanistan, and Iraq, and have emboldened the people of those nations to take steps toward a better infrastructure, and more freedom, despite the whining of the naysayers in the West, and the United Nations.
Who can deny the truth of this?
Oh, wait, there are many who can, even in the West.
Any person in America ( And even some in the Middle East ) with access to the Internet can access tons of resources for news, and info, that tell a story of events in Afghanistan, and Iraq ( And Lebanon, and Israel/Gaza. ) that Al Jazeera, many Muslim Rulers, and Clerics, and many in the Mainstream Media of the West are not providing their readers, and viewers.
I am of the opinion that mistakes have been made in Iraq, and think we need to explore how to maybe do some things differently.
Is the new Commission Report going to present some, or all, of those ways?
I do not yet know.
Using it to "Cut and Run", leaving the field to the terrorists, religious fanatics, Iran, and Syria, would be utter stupidity.
Governments are there to serve their own people. No people wants to side with or support any oppressors.
2 more truths! I am in awe of you Sir, and your wis...
Oh, wait, you ain't talking about YOUR government, and YOUR people, except for a brave few, know better than to NOT show public support for you, and your notions.
Let's take a look at Iraq . Since the commencement of the US military presence in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been killed, maimed or displaced. Terrorism in Iraq has grown exponentially.
Your numbers are obviously hyperbole, but you are right that terrorism has grown, and Iraqis are dying.
All brought about by terrorists, and Mad Militias.
As for the MWD's I am not so naive as to think that Saddam didn't have something he should not have.
Plenty of shells and chemical precursors have been found buried in the desert, and I would not be surprised if some finds of interest have not been made public for security reasons.
Although Saddam was overthrown and people are happy about his departure, the pain and suffering of the Iraqi people has persisted and has even been aggravated.
And whose fault is that?
I have no doubt Iran has played a part in this suffering and aggravation.
As all the mass graves from Saddams days, and new ones the terrorists, and Militias, have dug, the suffering of the Iraqi people continues at the hands of their fellows, but does the MSM give a shit about those?
In Iraq , about one hundred and fifty thousand American soldiers, separated from their families and loved ones, are operating under the command of the current US administration. A substantial number of them have been killed or wounded.
Here is something about that that you, and many Western critics, would prefer citizens of America, and other Western Nations, NOT understand about those figures as the marvelous MUDVILLE GAZETTE crunches the numbers on troop deployments and gets some startling results.
READ IT!
NOW!
I'll wait.......
Back? Interesting, wouldn't you agree?
I'd love Americans to quote that article ( A Tip of the Hat to Instapundit! ) the next time some whiny Liberal, Anti-War, Anti-Bush, Appeasing Peacenik, or member of the Media wants to tell them that Americans are "dying in DROVES" over there, and don't want to be there in the 1st place because they don't think it's worth it.
About the Media, and al-Qaida:
Mudville is running a must read 3 parter ( Plus 1 ) on al-Qaeda's invasion, and skillful use of our media against our interests ( Thought we wouldn't find out didn't you? ):
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and American media responds.
Read those, as well, l when through here.
Now where was I?
Oh, yeah, far from "tarnishing the image of the American people and government" our troops have done us, and freedom loving peoples the world over, proud, and you can find the proof of that in too many news stories, blogs, and blog stories, to count.
Their mothers and relatives have, on numerous occasions, displayed their pride over the presence of their sons and daughters in a land thousands of miles away from US shores. American soldiers often write with pride about what they are doing, and accomplishing, in Afghanistan, and Iraq.
You have heard that the US administration is kidnapping its presumed opponents from across the globe and arbitrarily holding them without trial or any international supervision in horrendous prisons that it has established in various parts of the world. God knows who these detainees actually are, and what terrible fate awaits them.
Since when is imprisoning enemy combatants kidnapping?
You have certainly heard the sad stories of the Guantanamo and Abu-Ghraib prisons...
Yeah, yeah, and how they eat better than I do, and throw things, some quite unpleasant, at the guards in gratitude.
I have no doubt interrigation techniques can be unpleasant, and while I don't condone torture I am not going to condemn every technique breathlessly revealed by the media to shock me, and march in the street demanding nothing more violent than a good tickling be used to extract vital information on the activities, and plans, of our enemies.
The Military has standards that interrigators are instructed to follow, and if those techniques make my fellow Americans squirm then I suggest that they consider this:
Poor Hadad may be part of a cell being trained to infiltrate America, go to San Francisco, and blow up the Golden Gate Bridge, and maybe half of the city for good measure, during rush hour.
That will put a crimp in plans for the next Critical Mass Bike Ride for damn sure!. ;-D
You are right that some of what the Administration, on the Homeland Security front, has done to keep America safe is a tad uncomfortable, and oversight of such laws, and regulations, is important to Americans, but we are at war, and I believe that as much as legally possible should be done to reduce the chances our enemies have to bring on another Sept. 11.
Consider this in the news today:
CHICAGO — A man has been arrested by federal agents on charges of planning to set off hand grenades at an Illinois shopping mall on Dec. 22 as part of his plan to commit "violent jihad" against civilians.
Derrick Shareef, 22, of Rockford, was arrested when he carried out a rendezvous with an undercover agent in a parking lot to trade a set of stereo speakers for four grenades and a handgun.
Federal officials said he planned to place the grenades in garbage cans at the CherryVale shopping mall in Rockford, about 90 miles northwest of Chicago.
Bravo for The Joint Terrorism Task Force!
Read the article, and watch the Video.
What this man said, especially on tape, is downright scary, and evil.
Strengthen Border Security, I say, and not just to keep out Mexican illegal aliens.
I think Americans should ask themselves this: How many more individuals, and groups, are there out there in this country, Britain, and Europe, just like him.... or worse?
The US administration does not accept accountability before any organization, institution or council. The US administration has undermined the credibility of international organizations, particularly the United Nations and its Security Council.
The US has held its soldiers accountable for misdeeds, and publically so.
The list of world organizations the US wouldn't trust as far as it could spit, and do not have the best interests of America in mind when wanting us to submit to them is a long one, and starts with the United Nations, I have no doubt.
To anyone who is in the know, and pays attention, the UN has little, or no, credibility left to undermine.
The legitimacy, power and influence of a government do not emanate from its arsenals of tanks, fighter aircrafts, missiles or nuclear weapons. Legitimacy and influence reside in sound logic, quest for justice and compassion and empathy for all humanity...
Darn right they do, and those are qualities that you know nothing about, and that the United States has had an abundance of for almost 230 years.
Our history is not perfect, yet we are a beacon of freedom to the poor, and oppressed of the world for a reason.
Freedom, Democracy, Equality, Opportunity.
Concepts too many world leaders do not understand, appreciate, or want their subjects to enjoy.
If the US finds itself in a, supposedly, weak position ( In the eyes of the likes of you. ) it is because it refuses to be defeated by those who dislike it, and all it stands for, and is not cowardly refusing to stand up to the enemies of Western Civilization.
I for one do not consider America to be weak for taking on this fight.
Sadly there are those among us, both ordinary citizens, and politicians, who are, on the issue of Terrorism ( And the issue of Illegal Immigration as well. ), quite wrong, and misguided, and those folks either need to be brought around, or defeated at the polls, so as to make sure the nation continues to stand strong in this fight that has only just begun.
Is there not a better approach to governance?
I'm glad you asked!
There is, and we practice it. ;-D
Is it not possible to put wealth and power in the service of peace, stability, prosperity and the happiness of all peoples through a commitment to justice and respect for the rights of all nations, instead of aggression and war?
Yes, it is, and we do, though we are not averse to wielding our "Big Stick" when the situation requires it ( See WW's 1, and 2, and Korea, for the 3 best examples of the past 100 years. ).
We get little appreciation, from countries that dislike us, for the good we have, and continue, to do, for their neighbors, and sometimes for them, and yet everyone eagerly piles on to condemn us when we fight enemies of freedom without waiting for them to give us permission.
Have Americans, and the West, ever wondered what it would be like to live in a "World Without an American"?
Now THAT is a movie that Hollywod won't tackle, or if they do it will be directed by Michael Moore, and be a glorious celebration of Socialism, winning every Film Award in sight. ;-D
can terrorism be contained and eradicated through war, destruction and the killing of hundreds of thousands of innocents?
Terrorism can be contained if we are not afraid to fight it, understanding that our enemies will gladly continue to bring on the destruction, and the killing of innocents, knowing that doing so puts pressure on us, and not them, due to our deep caring for others around the world, a caring they do not possess.
The rant against Israel, as you wind down the letter, is beneath contempt, and just serves to showcase your hatred, and madness.
I recommend that, in a demonstration of respect for the Israeli people, and for humanity, the right of Israelis to live in peace, and security, should be recognized, and the likes of Hezbollah be disarmed, so that millions of Palestinian refugees can finally be allowed to build a future for themselves. This will benefit everyone.
Now that Iraq has a Constitution and an independent Assembly and Government, would it not be more beneficial for Shia, and Sunni, to stop killing one another, and to use all the assistance America, and Britain, can provide, for the welfare and prosperity of the Iraqi people?
As you know very well, Mr. President, many people suffer from oppression in your country,
and countless others, in other Middle East nations, are oppressed as well.
Clean up your own house before presuming to lecture us about ours.
As for your pep talk to the Democrats in which you write:
Now that you control an important branch of the US Government, you will also be held to account by the people and by history.
If the US Government meets the current domestic and external challenges with an approach based on truth and Justice, it can remedy some of the past afflictions and alleviate some of the global resentment and hatred of America.
America will take care of its own, thank you very much, and suggests you do the same in your own house, and if by "remedy some of the past afflictions and alleviate some of the global resentment and hatred of America" you mean appeasing the likes of you, Osama, and other enemies of America, freedom, modernity, and Western Civilization, then....
KIS MY ASS!
It is possible to govern based on an approach that is distinctly different from one of coercion, force and injustice.
It is possible to sincerely serve and promote common human values, and honesty and compassion.
It is possible to provide welfare and prosperity without tension, threats, imposition or war.
We know, Mr. I Skipped Classes on American History in School.
Now... when are YOU going to follow our fine, though sometimes flawed, example?
It is possible to lead the world towards the aspired perfection by adhering to unity, monotheism, morality and spirituality and drawing upon the teachings of the Divine Prophets.
With you as the messenger, and interpreter of the teachings of said Prophets?
Thanks, but no thanks.
I may not be the most religious dude on the planet, but I do know one thing for certain.
What you are selling I ain't buying.
What I stated represents some of my anxieties and concerns.
What you stated represents the running of a bluff, and is doing nothing more than making the Lefties in the West quake in their boots and crap their drawers.
I am confident that you, the American people, will play an instrumental role in the establishment of justice and spirituality throughout the world.
So are we, and as a matter of fact we have been doing a bit of both for over 2 centuries already. ;-D
Justice and Truth will prevail and all nations will live free of the scourge of terrorism, and tyranny, sooner, rather than later, if America has anything to say about it.
You read the Divine Word of the Holy Qur'an...
Me, I'll read such books as these:

Oh, and BTW, I'm not the only one that has serious problems with you, and what you wrote, and she is not alone.
Sincerely yours,
