Wictory Wednesday 17: Election Preview and Predictions

7 days to go before Election Day.

Do YOU know how YOU are going to vote?

I went to my local Albertsons Market, yesterday, and voted early.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, in front of my readers, and their Dieties of Choice, and make some predictions for the 2004 United States Presidential Election.

POPULAR VOTE:

BUSH = 51

KERRY = 47

NADER = 2

Not yet finished with my rash predicting I then proceeded to pick the numbers in the Electoral College:

Wictory Wednesday 15 on Wriday: The Webate

Today is my 1st WICTORY WRIDAY. :-)

Well, actually it's Wictory Wednesday 15, 2 days late.. :-)

This week, I'm gonna just comment on last nights Debate, and just suggest you check out the Friday Morning Quarterbacking of some of my fellows in the Blogroll accompanying this post, plus a few other links, INCLUDING the transcript of last nights debate.

For what it's worth here's MY 2 cents:

Some folks are crowing that Kerry LOOKED Presidential, and seemed more poised, and dissed the facial expressions of the President.

Some folks are either die-hard Kerry Boosters, or are just now tuning in to the election, FINALLY.

That was NOT what I saw last night.

While I think Bush seemed to run out of steam in the last 15 minutes, what went before more than covered for him.

Every time Bush responded Kerry should have just bent over, lowered his pants, and said:

"Thank you, Sir! Please, may I have another?"

It was THAT bad.

To put it quite plainly;

George Bush CRUSHED John Kerry on the FACTS.

Looks don't mean squat when he tried to take advantage of the fact that a lot of people were tuning in to the campaign for the first time, and may not be aware of EVERYTHING he had been saying, and all his votes, in the last 2 years.

If I was the President I'd look exasperated, and annoyed, too!

The President looked like he couldn't wait to respond, and his responses, to so much of what Kerry said was just right.

I wish he'd said more, in response to some things, but give him credit, where credit is due.

I was pleased that the Bush closing statement was a knockout, and made Kerry's look even less convincing.

Kerry's contradictions were evident, his ideas for what to do, bothersome, and for me THE moment that he LOST the debate came when the moderator asked him if a comment he made in protesting Vietnam, applied to Iraq.

MODERATOR: Senator Kerry. Speaking of Vietnam, you spoke to Congress in 1971, after you came from Vietnam, and you said, quote, "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" Are Americans now dying in Iraq for a mistake?

SENATOR KERRY: No, and they don't have to, providing we have the leadership that we put -- that I'm offering. I believe that we have to win this.

I mean, how can what he said, be accepted, when he feels ( or currently feels ) the way he does about the war in Iraq?

He once said Soldiers died in Vietnam for a mistake.

He says the Iraq War is a wrong war, yet he also says that our soldiers in Iraq are NOT dying for a mistake.

He also says that Iraq won't be a wrong war as long as we win it.

And HE knows how to win it.

What the???????

Others are doing a grand job of pointing out the lies Kerry spoke last night, and the disturbing ideas he espoused, and so my only concern is that those folks just now tuning in to the election will let the mainstream media pundits persuade them that supposed style wins out over actual substance.

It is absolutely frightening to see polls, this morning, claiming viewers think Kerry won ( WHAT debate were they watching?? ), but it is perversly reassuring to see these same folks saying that fact won't change their vote.

Americans are weird like that, I guess. :-)

The Presidential Debate Transcript.

The next month is crucial to informing the uninformed that John Kerry is NOT the best choice to be Leader of America, and of the Free World.

Wict. Wed. 13: A Rather Humorous Collection

Today is my 13th WICTORY WEDNESDAY.

It's a day for folks like me to share with you our support for the notion that President George W. Bush, affectionately known around here as SHRUB, should absolutely be re-elected as President of the United States of America in November.

Each Wednesday I will, in addition to sharing with you the BLOGROLL of my fellows, and fellowetes, in this endeavor, encourage you to read 10 articles, collections of articles, and/or websites, found elsewhere to support my belief, and give you ammunition you can use to spread the word.

Today I am presenting links to Articles with an Economic Theme.......

Um... Sorry scratch that.

Events have conspired to bring the Bloggerverse front and center, and everyone interested in the way the Media covers news, and in the 2004 Election campaign, are riveted by the disaster that Dan Rather and CBS have brought down on the pride of Edward R. Murrow.

Having linked to a collection of RatherBiased.com's groundbreaking coverage of this story last weekend, and linked to a bunch of the ground breaking work that Little Green Footballs has done yesterday, I am devoting this edition of Wictory Wednesday to some HUMOROUS takes on the subject.

[ And, yet again, the ultimate number of pieces altogether encountered through these links will be slightly more than 10 :-) ]

Before getting to that let me encourage you to read all of the material I've linked to in the last few days, and visit those blogs at the center of the reporting as often as you can to keep up with this fast changing story.

Don't count on your local Newspaper, or the TV News, for all you need to know.

This story IS important.

As commentators, I linked to yesterday, have noted there is change in the wind, as the Bloggerverse, and the Mainstream Media, are being looked at in an all new light, and we in the Bloggerverse are going to be discovered by an all new audience.

Our place in the world of the Information Super Highway is evolving.

Get used to it.

Get used to the attention.

Make the best of it.

Enjoy the ride. :-)

Now, on to RatherGate!

Today I am presenting links to 8 speeches given, so far, at the Republican National Convention, a link concerning the Republican Agenda and accomplisments, a link to the Party Platform.

These are powerful words sending important messages to Americans of all political persuassions, and to the rest of the world.

Read them, and think about them.

And don't forget to vote in November.

As an added bonus I've tossed in links about the history of the Party as well that make for entertaining, and informative, reading.

Today, I thought I'd stimulate the Literature Appreciation cells of your brain by sharing a collection of Poetry by a Conservative voice with a ton of talent, and wit.

Things are getting serious in the election campaign, and so I figured a lightness was in order.

Besides, I'm still recovering from a trip which I took yesterday, that was bookended by 6 hour bus rides to begin, and end, the day ( I got home at 12:45am this morning ).

While there are more than 10 pieces in this collection they are all decidedly short, and sweet, so enjoy! :-)

So, without further ado I'll turn the floor over to Doggerel Pundit:

Wictory Wednesday 10: The Return

Today, though, I'm going to start small with just 3 suggestions.

Make no mistake, though, there IS a lot to read. :-)

This week, in a combination of playing catch up, and introducing new stuff I wish to bring to your attention several different things.

My last entry was in honor of Ronald Reagan in June, and a lot has happened since, not just in my busy life, but in the world.

Let this mark the return of my contribution to Wictory Wednesday. :-)

Ronald Reagan: A 21 Link Salute

Today is my 9th WICTORY WEDNESDAY.

It's a day for folks like me to share with you our support for the notion that President George W. Bush, affectionately known around here as SHRUB, should absolutely be re-elected as President of the United States of America in November.

THIS WEEK, HOWEVER, is dedicated to the memory of the one person most responsible for the 1980 beginning of the re-defining of the Republican Party, and the spread of its Conservative Ideals into the force that they are today.

His death has been the catylist for an extraordinary week in our national history, as people from all walks of life, and ethnic backrounds, express the love and admiration they have for this man, and what he accomplished.

What Reagan started, and stood for, is just one reason to vote for Bush in November.

I have just finished watching the day long coverage of today's events, and all I can say, as I wonder at the awesome fact that several hundred thousand Americans, on both coasts have already, and will continue to spend 4 to 10 hours traveling, and then standing in line, to take a few minutes to pay their respects to

Ronald Wilson Reagan

The 40th President of the United States of America

is....

Damn, those ceremonies were beautiful!
