Invitation to a London Event

On April 28th I received the following invite from Andrea, of the Blog Velorution:

Hello,

Part Two of our ABC series will take place at our shop on 9.5.6. The theme is Berlin.

This is what we have in store:

1. Video link-up with Keirin, Berlins trendiest bicycle shop. Keirin specialises in track frames. Mortimer, who has worked a few years in London as a messenger, will tell us about Berlin's cycle trends and messenger's chic.

2 Presentation by the Royal Parks of their plans for greater accessibility for people on bicycles - Berlin and London share the title of greenest capital city. Up to now, Berliners on bikes have been able to enjoy their open spaces whereas Londoners have had fairly restricted access to parks; this may be changing soon.

3 Introduction to hub gears - When you ride everyday in sunshine, rain or snow, you appreciate the durability of hub gears. Indeed most German town bikes come equipped with them (as well, by law, with lights). Our mechanic, Gattonero, will show the ins and outs of hub gears.

4. Unveiling of a new work by Julia Lohmann. We have commissioned Julia to illustrate a new lightbox at the back of our shop. Julia was one of the featured artists at "Great Brits The New Alchemists", a show at Paul Smith's shop in Milan.

German food and Berlin beer will be served (entry is free - 5.00 for refreshments)

I hope to see you. Kindly RSVP.

Regards,

Andrea Casalotti

Well, I'm game.

So I've been buying a few Lottery and Lotto tickets  in the hopes of hitting the jackpot and thus snagging enough cash for the round trip plane ticket, a few days in the Britsh equivalent of a Motel 6, food, a tour of the Tower, and a few cheap souvenirs.

Alas, it was not meant to be. :-(

I've sent my regrets this evening. ;-D
