This series is dedicated to the proposition that Blogging is a prime example of the saying "Variety is the Spice of Life".
Let's get to the good stuff!
Let's get things rolling with a smile...
1. Billy, of the Blog called I Could Have Been a Contender, is proud that when all was said, and done, "I just knew that they hadn't puked at the sound of my voice...I just knew that I hadn't made a total pillock of myself...I just knew that I'd walked away alive from the phone call...I'd won..."
2. The folks over at NPR, when not going "All Liberal" on their readers, and listeners, actually produce some wonderful stuff.
Once such effort is the "This I believe" series where "NPR invites you to share the beliefs that guide you in your daily life".
Sarah Adams has written a thought provoking essay about the Pizza Delivery Dude:
If I have one operating philosophy about life it is this: "Be cool to the pizza delivery dude; it's good luck." Four principles guide the pizza dude philosophy.
Principle 1: Coolness to the pizza delivery dude is a practice in humility and forgiveness.
Principle 2: Coolness to the pizza delivery dude is a practice in empathy.
Principle 3: Coolness to the pizza delivery dude is a practice in honor and it reminds me to honor honest work.
Principle 4: Coolness to the pizza delivery dude is a practice in equality.
Read, and ponder, her discussion of these Principles.
3. As readers of my Genealogy Archives know my Dad, though born in Macedonia in the 20's, was edumicated in Bugarian Schools through the 8th grade.
So when I discovered Rob, The Alaskan Bugarian, I was intrigued to learn he was a member of the Peace Corp in Silistra, Bulgaria, teaching English.
He wrote an interesting piece on Stipends for Grades:
I just learned the full, dirty truth about stipends for students today. Every month, some student always comes back from the "restroom" and declares to the entire class "stipends are down at the office!" Right after that, about half the class, and all good students, decide that they also need to go to the "restroom." Today, kind of bored, I finally asked about the details.
The rest is here: 21 Leva?!
Well, that's it for this edition.
The next entry in this series will be Memorial Day, May 30th.
