Hello, Nikita here, filling in for Daddy.
He's been sick for at least a week, and the last 4 days have been the worst.
I will never complain about hairballs again! When Humans get sick enough that they start coughing, and losing their voice, the sound of that cough can rival the worst episode of hairballs.
Trust me.
At night he spends most of the time sleeping sitting up so as not to cough so much.
I try to take his mind off it by playing with him, but his belly scratches are not full of their usual expert technique so I eventually settle down next to him and take a light nap.
Hopefully he will be well in time for Christmas, and can enjoy his 3 days off from work.
Regular readers know that it's been a while since I last contributed anything here, but I am feeling the writing bug again, similar to when I wrote my well received, unfinished, memoirs in my youth.
You can find old stuff, including the only still existing chapters of the memoirs ( Tales from the Litter Box ), here, and see my picture on the Left Sidebar.
Anyway, what prompted me to consider a return to regular writing?
Blame Ferdinand!
The proliferation of Bloggers writing about their Feline Companions ( and sharing photos ), and even allowing them to occasionally post something, as seen by the popularity of the Carnival of the Cats has taken us from the relative obscurity of Message Boards ( Where my entire Tales from the Litter Box appeared at the turn of the century ) to the attention of a wider online audience.
If I, or Daddy, had only known, we would have saved those Glorious Chapters.
So I've decided to return to writing, and opinionating and, who knows, I could eventually re-commit to posting my memoirs, though the new version might not have the same sense of immediacy, and emotion, that was the hallmark of the original.
Ferdinand is The Conservative Cat, and he has been instrumental in not only the Carnival of the Cats ( check out Edition #90 ), but in encouraging a Community of Cat Lovers, and their Feline Companions.
I checked out posts from some of the members, and discovered other cats who write, and some very lovely photos!
Ferdinand is worried folks might think he's going soft.
Cats like to wrap presents, too, you know.
Being a Cat is hard work.
Some Cats get themselves into the most amazing predicaments.
