I must say this is the most shameless play for an Instalanche since my "ALTHOUSE=GOD" t-shirt promotion.

Nevertheless, very cool thing, that Bookcrossing. I actually registered a book once and left it lying around here in Germany, and nobody picked it up :-(

Kiril, The Mad Macedonian

If my registering the book, releasing it, and blogging about it, was about getting an Instalanche I would have Released the book at the time of registration.

I was honored with an Instalanche last year when a post of mine on my BikeBlog tied in nicely with a cycling post by Glenn, and I got lucky when my e-mail, soon after his post, was actually read.

So... been there, done that. ;-D

Like with anyone of us Bloggers, and the e-mail heads-up we get, or blog posts we read, it is up to Glenn whether he brings something to the attention of his readers, and that is as it should be.

While another one would be nice I am far more interested in bringing new people into the joy of reading, and the fun of BookCrossing.

In addition to an Instlanche I've had the honor of a nice response to an e-mail I wrote him about an old article of his that gave a then new blogger much food for thought about being a writer, and blogger.

What people don't fully appreciate about Instalanches is that not every one brings thousands of eyeballs to the honored sites, and any who come won't neccessarily return in the future.

Whether several hundred ( My Case, ), or thousands, a 1 day wonder, or a week long interest ( My Case. ) these events vary, and should be savored by the recipient while they last.

As for BookCrossing Catches....

It is, of course, a matter of luck, and interest by the finder, whether a book is ever heard from again. ;-D

That is one of the beauties of BookCrossing....

Your Release of a book "Into the Wild" for someone to discover, and enjoy, is an Act of Kindness, and who finds it is entirely Random ( As opposed to Releasing the book in a BookRing, or BookRay ).

Your reward is seeing the book journaled again, and maybe again, and again, and again over the years, and maybe being responsible for bringing a new member into the BookCrossing Community.
